The 2020 Online World Series of Poker kicks off today! From July 1st to September 6th, 85 WSOP gold bracelets are up for grabs on the digital felt across two different clients: WSOP.com and GG Poker.
WSOP.com will kick off the action with a daily series running from July 1-31, accessible to those only in Nevada and New Jersey. GGPoker’s schedule, offering a whopping 54 bracelet events, will start on July 19 and run all the way through to September 6.
Earlier, PokerNews compiled a comprehensive guide about everything you need to know for WSOP.com. In today’s article, we’ll look at all the questions you might have to make sure you’re all set to grab a GGPoker bracelet!
How to Download GGPoker
The first order of business is to visit GGPoker and download the client to play. GGPoker is available for Windows (Windows 7, 2GB RAM), Mac (OS X Mavericks 10.8, 2GB RAM), and Android (4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, 2GB RAM), with minimum system requirements listed behind it.
The free app for the client you’re on will appear on the official download site, or sign up directly through PokerNews.
Once downloaded, select your preferred language in the GGPoker Setup window and select ‘Install’ to begin the installation process. If a security warning flashes up, select ‘Run’.
The last thing you need to do is deposit money on the site to play. Select ‘Cashier’ before diving into the action. Once you’ve deposited using your preferred depositing method, select the games you’d like to play using the tabs at the top of the screen. The WSOP portion has its own dedicated section among the tabs.
How to Create a GGPoker Account & Verify Identity
With step 1 complete, it’s now time to create your alias to conquer the tables! Open the app you’ve downloaded and select the red ‘Sign-up’ button on the home screen. Create a username and password, and complete the sign-up form with a valid email address or mobile number.
If you run into any issues during the sign-up process, GGPoker offers support via a number of channels; [email protected] or GGPoker’s FAQ site are the most commonly used, but GGPoker also interacts directly with players through their Discord channel (http://gg.gl/discord) and Telegram.
Verification of your account can take up to 72 hours, but the goal is to complete all account verification procedures as quickly as possible, with most of them processed within a matter of hours.
In order to verify your account, players are asked to provide two items: a proof of identity, such as a passport or driver’s license, and a proof of address, such as a utility bill or bank statement. Both must be separate documents.

Where can I play on GGPoker?
Due to ever-changing regulations across the globe, it’s not always clear where GGPoker can be accessed. GGPoker advises players to check out countries that can be chosen from the country dropdown on the registration page. If a country is listed there, players are welcome on the site (pending blocked jurisdiction changes).
Players from the United States, one of the blocked countries on the list, need to travel to a legal country (such as Canada or Mexico) and provide proof of residence, as explained below by GGPoker’s ambassador Daniel Negreanu, in order to play. Note that players physically present in a blocked jurisdiction like the US cannot play in that region, even if they are account holders from allowed countries.
GGPoker WSOP 2020 Promotions
There will be at least three big promotions running during the 2020 WSOP on GGPoker! The following promotions all offer big prizes throughout the summer.

WSOP Silk Road
While the 54 WSOP 2020 events on GGPoker provide a fantastic shot at career-altering money and owning a piece of WSOP history, the buy-ins are often steep and can be daunting for the average player. One of the promotions GGPoker runs to give those with smaller bankrolls a shot is the Silk Road promotion, which runs from July 1 – August 31.
Silk Road is a series of micro-stakes tournaments that award tickets to WSOP bracelet events. Even better, the Silk Road promotion has its own leaderboard that will award a $5,000 WSOP Main Event ticket to the best crusher during these micro-stakes events.
For more information on the Silk Road promotion, as well as the schedule (released weekly), check out GGPoker.
Spin Your Way into WSOP

GGPoker WSOP 2020 Online Leaderboard Prizes
While the summer chase will be all about the gold WSOP bracelets, there’s plenty more of the precious metal over at GGPoker. Throughout the series, the overall leaderboard will keep track of the biggest winners. Several prizes are up for grabs for those that consistently do well:
- Pure Gold Dragon – Asia Player of the Series (Asian Time Zone Events)
- Pure Gold Mouse – Leaderboard Winner
- Pure Gold Card – Leaderboard 2nd-5th
The formula used for the leaderboards is as follows:
Leaderboard Point = f * sqrt(Prize pool / k)
k is the place of finish
f=2.0 (1st place)
f=1.5 (Final table)
f=1.0 (In the money)
f=0.5 (Bubble)
